Peter Bates
After graduating RHAM High School, Pete entered a career in carpentry, specializing in both log homes and conventional framing. This led to commercial construction at the UCONN Health Center, in Farmington, and commercial renovation at the UCONN Storrs campus.
After a brief hiatus, Pete took a job in the food service industry as an apprentice baker, and quickly became head baker at Cavaliere’s Bakery, in his home town of Marlborough, CT. Following a move to The Plaza Shoppes Bakery & Deli in Hartford, Pete left the field to become a full time, stay at home parent with children Andrew and Tim. This led to weekly volunteering opportunities in the local school and pre-school. Pete was particularly active as a parent volunteer at the Colchester Cooperative Nursery School, where he eventually served as Chairperson for 2 terms.
During the sale of his home in Colchester, and subsequent move to East Lyme, CT., Pete became interested in Real Estate as a career. Thanks to the help and encouragement of his friend and mentor Jim Harrington, Pete obtained his Real Estate license and is anxious to follow Jim’s mantra of waking up each day thinking “How can I help someone today?” Pete lives in East Lyme with wife Kim and daughter Julia. He has 2 grown boys, Andy and Tim. He enjoys fishing, hiking, cycling and fine woodworking.
